Connecting to SAP Data Intelligence Cloud

Learning Article
  • SAP Data Intelligence Cloud provides connection management, pipelining, and transformation for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. Moreover, it adds Python and JavaScript capabilities to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s SQL.

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and SAP Data Intelligence Cloud work together to provide data integration engineers with a full data integration platform with pipelining capabilities, data discovery features, and automated processing capabilities.

In a Space, create an OpenSQL Schema. This will provide you with the relevant credentials, like host, port, username, and password.

Go into your Data Intelligence Connection Management.

There, establish a connection to SAP HANA, using the credentials you’ve generated in the first step.

Using the outbound IP of Data Intelligence (you can also find it in the Data Intelligence Management under INFO_NAT_GATEWAY_IP), add it to the IP Allowlist (you can do this directly in your SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. See here, how.)

Now you can build a pipeline in Data Intelligence Cloud, setting the OpenSQL Schema in SAP HANA Cloud as a target. This means that you can re-use the Connection ID, that you already set up in the Data Intelligence Connection Management. Execute the pipeline.

Go back into your SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and create a local connection to SAP HANA Cloud OpenSQL Schema.

Use the local connection in the Data Flow Builder. You can now build a Data Flow that persists the respective table from SAP HANA Cloud as an SAP Data Warehouse Cloud table. Additionally, you can, of course, also build views in the Data View Builder and/or build directly a data story in SAP Analytics Cloud.
