SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is an end-to-end warehouse in the cloud that combines data management processes with advanced analytics. It is built on the powerful SAP HANA and is, together with SAP Analytics Cloud, part of SAP HANA Cloud Services.
In the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, metadata management, business intelligence, planning, and augmented analytics are all built-in features in the solution. The creation of a business semantic layer brings real-life meaning to your data and opens new doors to truly smart decision-making and new insights!
Let’s take a quick tour of SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s interface.
After you log in, you are greeted by the Welcome page.
There’s already a lot to discover here.
You’ll also see the SAP DATA Warehouse Resources news feed. Here is where we post updates on new releases, post resources, or just wish you an awesome day!
Now, let’s look at some of the menu options on the left side. On the bottom left, you see these options:
Space Management: This is where you’ll set up and manage the Spaces. Spaces are virtual workspaces for an individual or a group of users for data modelling, data integration, and story dashboard building. For more on Spaces, click here.
Connections: This is where you set up and manage your data warehouse’s connections – internal and remote ones.
Administration: SAP Data Warehouse Cloud allows you to use SAP HANA smart data integration and its Data Provisioning Agent to enable on-premise connections. This requires that you first download and install the SAP HANA smart data integration Data Provisioning agent to a network location from which it can establish HTTPS connections to SAP HANA on Cloud. This is the place to do this.
Security: Here is where the Administrator can add users, assign them to specific spaces, and give them different roles. Via e-mail, users receive notification that they have been added to a space and that their environment is ready to be used. Users can be grouped, which makes it easier to assign a group of users to their respective spaces. In short: here you can specify permissions for different areas of the software and manage individual access rights to your content.

Now, let’s go up and take a look at the menu options on the top left.
File Repository: The File Repository allows you to see all of your files categorized by Space. Favorite and organize your files here.
Business Catalog: The Business Catalog displays all data models you are authorized to use. This varies from user to user, dependant on the permissions you granted. As you are creating more data models, your business catalog grows.
Data Builder: This is where the magic happens. The Data Builder allows you to model your data sets, perform transformational and viewing operations, and produce the correlations and data insights you’re looking for.
Story Builder: The Story Builder is your tool to deploy your freshly created data models into Business Intelligence and predictive analytical applications such as the SAP Analytics Cloud. Here, stories you choose bring your data to life and help you answer your business questions. More to this in our blogs “What is a Story” and “How to build a Story”.
