SAP Data Warehouse Cloud Solves Your Biggest Challenges

Empower business users and increase the impact of your work

Reuse your SAP HANA for SQL Data Warehousing models by simply redeploying them to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud, and empower business users to connect, model, and visualize data themselves with SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. With an intuitive UI and the Business Layer, data is easy to model in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud using either SQL or a graphical drag-and-drop tool. This way IT and business users can work together in the same governed environment. Spaces provide an isolated environment where business users can model and blend global datasets with local data, like CSV files.

Federation and virtualization in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud allows business users to access the data they need without IT replicating and exporting the data. SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is supporting the separation into Data Layer Spaces and Business Model Spaces including the ability to map and re-map between the different Spaces to provide Top-Down and Buttom-Up modeling capabilities. It’s easy for IT to jump in at any time to enhance a model for reuse throughout the organization —without having to rebuild the model in a different environment.

Simple integration in one environment

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud offers out of the box integration with SAP SQL Data Warehouse. Once connected in a hybrid scenario, SAP HANA for SQL Data Warehousing is directly connected to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud and will enable you to deploy your Web IDE objects directly to HDI-Container which are assigned to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud managed Spaces. With an intuitive UI, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud provides integrated access to all your data sources and objects – SAP BW, SQL, and Web IDE – through one centralized gateway. With both SQL and graphical drag-and-drop modeling, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud enables IT and business users to work together in one central environment and model in whichever way they chose.

Mitigate the threat of Shadow IT

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud is a complete end-to-end solution that takes care of all your employees’ data needs from integration to modeling and analytics, to minimize the need for ad-hoc solutions. It’s also open so you can connect any HANA certified third-party tools via the open SQL schema your employees use and then govern them centrally. No matter the employee’s role or department, SAP Data Warehouse Cloud helps you define clear authorizations and assign user roles. Spaces provide IT with company-wide visibility and governance over any data sources and connections.

Respond to business users faster

Balance secure central governance, on the fly change requests, and business user empowerment with SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s Spaces. Spaces are isolated environments that allow business users to explore data. In Space Management, IT can set up and quickly adjust each Space’s data connections, user access, and computing/storage quotas. While each Space is isolated, the data remains centrally governed and connected in real-time to the organization’s underlying data. Business users are empowered in their Space to establish connections to new data sources, upload local files, and model data before sharing insights in real-time with other users without affecting the integrity of the underlying data.

Integrated Design, Model, Build, Run, and Automation Processes

A growing community of customers and partners use the SAP HANA in-memory platform for SQL data warehousing purposes. One of the major innovations in this area is the introduction of SAP HANA extended application services, advanced model (XSA) for on-premises systems and Cloud Foundry for cloud native tenants. This modernized the traditional data warehousing development and provided agility in line with the DevOps style, by including the option to combine SAP and open-source tooling for automation (continuous integration/continuous deployment).

The complete process to Design, Model, Build, Run, and Automate available within SAP HANA for SQL Data Warehousing integrates seamlessly with the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s Spaces that enable access to the deployed objects in the SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s graphical editors.

Spaces

Complete resource control and flexible allocation

Spaces in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud offer agile control over resources so IT can focus on innovation. Space Management gives an overview of all resources, including the total amount of disk and in-memory being used. From Space Management, IT can then jump into any Space and quickly scale its disk and in-memory storage up or down.

Space Prioritization can be adjusted depending on the importance of a Space. When a Space sends a job to the database, it will be handled based on the Space’s priority and Workload-Management Class in relation to other Spaces. To see who’s doing what, Space Auditing shows you who has read or made changes to the data in every Space.

Connections

Monitor and Create Connection

Quickly monitor and create connections from the comfort of a single centralized environment. Connections to remote systems or data sources can be created and monitored within each Space in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud. The full list of connections, including the connection’s name, owner, creation date, and type, for example SAP HANA, is available for each Space.

You can also drill down on specifics like how often replicated data is refreshed – select real-time or do it manually – in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s Data Integration Monitor. Security and Admin governance in SAP Data Warehouse Cloud extends to IP and Data Provisioning Agent management.

Business Layer

Join the Underlying Data and Secure Business-friendly Access

SAP Data Warehouse Cloud’s Business Layer bridges the gap between the underlying data and secure business-friendly access. The Business Layer can be used to expose business users to the data fields they need while hiding any data fields that might not be relevant. Data fields can then be named using business terminology. By mapping business terminology to the underlying data, business users can understand, model, and analyze data without ever needing to touch irreplaceable underlying data.

Separating the Business Layer from the data also means that you’ll only need to define the business terminology once, even if the data changes. If the data connected to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud does change, you just need to point the business terminology to the new data. This way IT is free to work on the underlying data without disrupting anyone.
